What is an ANP and an APRN?
Protected Natural Areas (ANP) are created by a decree issued by the President of the Republic, in order to protect those ecosystems that have not been altered and require preservation or, alternatively, those that have been seriously contaminated and must be restored.
The ANPs have as their maximum instrument of territorial planning their Management Program, which establishes:
- Core zones, where any activity that alters ecosystems is prohibited.
- Buffer zones, in which diverse activities are permitted, primarily those related to ecological preservation and restoration, and areas where the development of some projects is permitted under strict measures aimed at preventing adverse environmental impacts.
