- The SCJN declared unconstitutional Article 478 of the General Health Law, which limits the amount that a user can carry for personal consumption to 5 grams.
- This ruling does not mean the legalization, decriminalization of narcotics, or the elimination of the criminal conduct of simple possession of narcotics, and only applies to Cannabis.
- The ruling only benefits the individual who filed the appeal, but sets a precedent that prevents consumers from being penalized.
