January 5, 2026 /
Season 4

In this first episode of 2026, we speak with Juan Carlos Machorro, a partner at our firm, and Ernesto de la Puente, an associate specializing in labor law, to discuss the new minimum wage that takes effect this year. We talk about the plans for progressive increases to the minimum wage until 2030, when it is expected to cover 2.5 basic food baskets, the marginal inflationary impact of the minimum wage increases since 2018, the anticipated friction between labor and employers regarding the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR), and the impact of the increase on companies' labor costs.
